A small full-function ADU for a grandma who loves to garden

Gibran Larquier, Designer This backyard ADU is on a compact lot with a backyard garden. The home was custom built for the client’s mother. She was particularly concerned with the connection to the garden. We built a potting shed into the front eave of the home, and sited the home for privacy between the households a connection to the garden. 

With limited space, we paid extra attention to building in functionality and storage into the small space. The home is age-in-place friendly using universal design principles, and creates a private back space away from the main house and connected to the garden.
